Tehran Times Political Desk

TEHRAN — New envoys from Germany, Austria, and Cuba submitted their credentials to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Monday.

In a meeting with German Ambassador Bernd Erbel, Ahmadinejad said the era of global arrogance is in decline and for the past 60 years many countries including Germany have suffered huge losses.

Commenting on deep rooted ties between Iran and Germany, the president said, “We are determined to bolster bilateral ties based on mutual respect.”

Iranian and German nations both have ancient cultures and for the past 60 years both countries have been deprived of their role in cultural developments around the globe, he noted.

The growing political, cultural and economic relations between the two countries is an indication that exercising patience and resistance have produced fruitful results for both countries and ensured a bright future for them, Ahmadinejad stated.

Receiving Austrian envoy Bax Baum, the president said Iran expects countries like Austria that has the record of adopting independent positions to stand against wrong conduct of arrogant powers.

“During the past decades, we have witnessed cordial ties between the two countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in further boosting its relations with Austria,” the president told Austrian ambassador.

In a meeting with the new Cuban Ambassador to Tehran William Carno Ricardo, Ahmadinejad pointed out that there is no barrier to the expansion of mutual ties between Tehran and Havana.

There are various potentials for extending ever-increasing ties between the two countries and Iran and Cuba could greatly cooperate particularly in South America.

Iran and Cuba will always defend the right of oppressed people in the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
