National libraries of Iran and Zimbabwe sign MOU

TEHRAN -- Iran’s National Library and Archive and the National Archives of Zimbabwe inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for further cooperation on Saturday in Harare.

Strengthening bilateral relations with African countries is one of the primary programs of Iran’s government and enhanced cultural ties influence both countries involved in the relationship, INLA director Ali-Akbar Ash’ari mentioned during the ceremony.
He went on to say that relationships between national libraries, which are repositories of the history of nations, will boost cultural relations between two countries.
According to the MOU, the two libraries will exchange their books, journals and other resources and also share in the academic achievements resulting from the expansion of collections and the preservation of books.
Benefiting from modern technologies in library science, developing joint projects for the introduction and circulation of books and holding seminars are among the other activities mentioned in the agreement.
