Moradi wins gold in Asian Athletics Championship

Guangzhou, China - Iranian athlete Sajad Moradi claimed the gold medal of the Men’s 800 meters competition in the 18th Asian Athletics Championship on Friday.

Moradi, who had won the gold in the Asian Indoor Games last week, finished in first place with a timing of 1:48.58 minutes. The Kuwaiti and Iraqi representatives came second and third respectively.

Hadi Sepehrzad won a silver medal in the decathlon. Japanese Tanaka Hiromasa claimed the gold in the event.

Iranian woman athlete Leila Rajabi won the bronze medal in the shot put event in the opening day of the tournament as well.

About 800 athletes and 300 officials and referees from nearly 40 Asian countries and regions have taken part the event. The 18th Asian Athletics Championship got underway on November 10 in Guangzhou, China, and will finish on November 14
