Macedonia ties with Iran at Azadi

TEHRAN - Iran and Macedonia football teams fought to a draw here at the Azadi Stadium on Wednesday.

At a friendly match watched by 1000 spectators, Iran and Macedonia battled to a 1-1 draw in rainy weather.
Anderanik Teymourian eased the pressure on Iran’s shoulder with his goal in the 36th minute. The Macedonian keeper failed to save Javad Nekounam’s free kick and the Fulham midfielder poked the ball into the net.
The home side’s victory was denied four minutes into the second half by Goran Pandev. The Lazio striker opened Iran keeper Mehdi Rahmati’s goal with a header.
Iran will play Jordan on November 22 in Amman in the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Iran tops Group Five with seven points. The team has been drawn along with Singapore, Thailand and Jordan
