Iranian lifter pulls out of the World Championship

GOYANG – Saeid Ali-Hosseini has withdrawn from the World Weightlifting Championship due to elbow injury.

The +105kg category was Iran’s lone medal hope in the event but was forced to withdraw from the competition on Saturday because of his injury.

Double Olympic gold medalist and Iran weightlifting coach Hossein Rezazadeh said, “It was a big shock. Saeid Ali-Hosseini would have surely won the gold medal of the World Championship.”

An Yong-Kwon of South Korea claimed two gold medals in the category winning with a total of 445kg on Sunday
