TEHRAN - Iran’s Karate Federation (IKF) banned the Shitoryu Shukokai Union style for women after the youth athletes unveiled their hijab (Islamic covering) in the tournament held in Germany two weeks ago.

Iran’s Shitoryu Shukokai Union team was forced to compete in the World Championship without wearing hijab after they were not allowed to participate in the event by the organizers.
“The offenders should be punished. Of course the competition was held in different levels including youth, juniors and adults and our participants were underage (not in an group age obliged to wear hijab according to Islamic law),” caretaker of Iran’s Karate Federation Alireza Ahi said
