TEHRAN -- The Arab League has always supported Iran’s right to acquire nuclear technology meant for peaceful purposes, the organization’s secretary general said on Tuesday.

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa said that none of the reports issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency indicate that Iran’s nuclear program has been diverted to a military objective.
It is Israel that is conducting military nuclear activities in the region, he said at a joint press conference with Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in Cairo.
Asked about the expansion of diplomatic interactions between Iran and Arab countries, Amr Moussa said, “(I) believe all of the issues between Iran and Arab nations can be resolved at the negotiating table.”
Larijani dismissed reports that Tehran will swap low-enriched uranium for nuclear fuel in a third country like Bahrain.
“(We) have announced from the beginning that (uranium) enrichment must be done on Iranian soil, and now it is being done in Iran and under the supervision of the IAEA,” he stated.
“But we needed fuel for Tehran’s nuclear reactor, so we announced that (we) intend to buy fuel.”
“If they do not want to sell us fuel for Tehran’s (nuclear) reactor, we ourselves will enrich uranium,” he added.
Asked about allegations that Iran supports Houthi groups in Yemen, he stated, “We have never helped the Houthis, and this is a big lie (they) tell in order to distract your minds from the main enemy.”
“We regard Yemen as our friend and praise the Yemeni government’s stances on the 33-day war (against Lebanon) and the 22-day war (against Gaza),” he said.
He went on to say that Iran would make the utmost efforts to help resolve the current crisis in Yemen.
The Yemeni government has been in conflict with the Houthis, a Zaidi Shia minority group, in the north of the country since 2004
