TEHRAN -- The common Iranian and Turkish epics of Köroglu is once again in the spotlight by the production of an animated film in Iran.

Over 60 people have been working on “The Legend of Hero Roshan” since 2007, producer Alireza Isaii Tafreshi told the Persian service of IRNA on Sunday.
“This animation promotes patriotism among the Iranian youth,” he said.
“It was also made with the aim of enlightening people of all ages about the legends of the Azerbaijani people and their bravery throughout history,” he added.
The epics were turned into a screenplay by Masud Abazari and revised by director Salma Afakri.
The epics of Köroglu are common to both Iranian and Turkish tradition. He was a noble warrior-robber who became one of the central figures in folk literature from Central Asia to Anatolia.
A number of veteran Iranian dubbers including Zohreh Shokufandeh, Bahram Zand, Parviz Rabiei, Valiollah Momeni have voiced the characters of the animation.
