TEHRAN – Iranians will observe Iran National Persian Gulf Day on April 30 in the southern city of Bandar Abbas.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini, and a group of officials and cultural figures from Hormozgan Province will be attending the event.
Several programs are arranged for the day among which are two symphonies centering on the Persian Gulf selected from compositions by Ali Amir-Ahmadi and a symphonic poem composed by Esfandiar Qarehbaghi, culture minister advisor Parviz Karami told the Persian service of MNA.
“Several scholars who have carried out research on the Persian Gulf will be honored on this day. Several exhibits displaying photos, images, documents, and old maps of Persian Gulf, as well as hoisting Iran’s flag at the Portuguese Castle on the Persian Gulf island of Hormoz are among other programs arranged for the day,” he added.
Also on the same day, the officials will discuss plans for holding a national festival of Persian Gulf.
In addition, Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) Director Hamid Baqaii recently announced that the organization would hold ceremonies on that same day, Friday, to register traditional naval documentation of the Persian Gulf on Iran’s National Heritage List.
“This will be the first step by the CHTHO toward globalizing awareness of the heritage of this land,” he said.
