TEHRAN - Ali-Akbar Salehi, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) director, has stated that both the Islamic Republic and the West seem determined to reach a compromise on nuclear fuel swap.

“There seems to be a mutual determination to reach an agreement, and things are going smoothly,” Salehi told the Mehr News Agency on Friday.
He expressed hope that a solution would be found soon that would satisfy both sides.
Asked whether there have been any new offers with regard to the fuel exchange deal, Salehi said, “Several offers are under consideration.”
He also stressed that Iran is determined to produce nuclear fuel required for the Tehran medical reactor so that there will be no disruption in the production of radioisotopes.
“Right now, we have slowed down the activities of the Tehran reactor in order to make (the remaining) fuel last longer,” he added.
Previously, Salehi had insisted that Iran should be given “objective assurances” as a condition for nuclear fuel swap to take place.
“Receiving concrete assurances is the single condition for carrying out nuclear fuel swap,” he told reporters last Tuesday
