“Santur Player” producer passes away at 54

TEHRAN -- the producer of Dariush Mehrjuii’s controversial film “The Santur Player” Faramarz Farazmand died of heart attack on Friday in Tehran. He was 54.
He produced several films including Dariush Mehrjuii’s “Leila” and “The Pear Tree”. He had planned to produce Mohammad Ali Safura’s movie “On the Brigde”.
Iranology department established at Balkh University
TEHRAN – The Iranology department was established at the Balkh University of Mazari Sharif by Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution member Ahmad Ahmadi during a recent ceremony.
Balkh University was founded in 1986. It is the third largest in Afghanistan after Kabul University and Nangarhar University. Faculties include medicine, engineering, economics, journalism, literature, law and science.
UN photo exhibition underway in Tehran
TEHRAN -- The United Nations is displaying a selection of submitted photos on the theme of “Millennium Development Goals” in 2009 during an exhibition at the Melal Cultural Center.
A total of 34 photos will be on display until August 20 at the center located in Qeitarieh Park, off Sadr Highway..
