KHORRAMABAD, Lorestan Province - MP Reza Rahiminasab has denied the rumors claiming that the recent explosion at a military base in western Iran was a terrorist incident.

On Tuesday, an explosion in the armory of an IRGC base located in Lorestan Province killed 18 and injured 14 other personnel of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps. Two of the injured are in critical condition.
The cause of the explosion was a nearby fire that spread to the munitions storage area of the base, Rahiminasab said.
“Other reports about the incident are rumors and should not be heeded,” he added.
Local officials have declared Wednesday and Thursday official days of mourning in Lorestan.
A funeral procession for the martyrs is scheduled to be held on Thursday in Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan. High-ranking officials of the IRGC will attend the funeral.
Lorestan Governor General Hassan Shariatnejad visited the injured IRGC personnel hospitalized in Khorramabad and offered his condolences to the Iranian nation over the tragic incident.
