TEHRAN – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sent a message of congratulation to newly-elected Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, expressing hope that Iran-Brazil friendly relationship would be strengthened during her term in office.

“I am sure that in your term in office, Brazil will move faster in the path of progress and development… and Iran-Brazil ties have considerably expanded in the recent years and I am sure that this trend will continue in your term in office,” part of the message says.
In the runoff election on October 31, Rousseff overcame centrist rival Jose Serra by winning 56 percent of the vote against his 44 percent.
