TEHRAN -- A representative from Iran’s Leev Theater Group will attend Thespis International Festival of Monodrama.

The manager of the group, Sasan Piruz, will attend the festival which will be held from November 9 to 14 in Kiel, Germany.
“One of the officials of Germany’s International Theatre Institute (ITI) was informed about the Leev monologue project during his sojourn in Iran. He invited the troupe to have a representative in THESPIS,” Piruz told the Persian service of MNA.
He went on to say that the Leev Theater Group will not be performing at the festival but it will be an opportunity to watch performances from other countries so that it can better prepare for the next edition of the festival.
“We are planning to exchange dramatic texts with participants from other countries. It is an opportunity for Iranian dramatists to have their texts translated into other languages and also for stage artists to perform scripts by foreign playwrights,” he added.
He said that the troupe does not intend to invite foreign participants for performances in Iran since “it is not easy to invite a foreign troupe to Iran.”
The expenses of the trip will be provided by Germany’s International Theatre Institute and festival and a small portion is being covered by the Leev Theater Group, he added.
The only international festival for solo performances in Germany, the event will play host to performances by different countries including the Britain, Poland, Palestine, Switzerland, U.S.A, Norway, Ukraine, Japan, Canada, and Germany.
