TEHRAN (FNA) -- A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman has called on Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) to maintain their constructive attitude for future talks.

“Now it is important to maintain a constructive attitude for the continuation of dialogue and to abstain, on both sides, from steps that could impede this,” the deputy director of the Russian Foreign Ministry Information and Press Department, Alexei Sazonov, said.
Commenting on the recent talks between Iran and the 5+1 group in Geneva, Switzerland, Sazonov stated that the six world powers were “concentrated on the formation of a stable and long-term negotiating mechanism with Iran that would open a way to a comprehensive political-diplomatic settlement of the situation around the Iranian nuclear program.”
In the latest round of talks, senior negotiators from Iran and the 5+1 group attended three sessions in Geneva on December 6 and 7.
Sazonov said that the Iran-5+1 group meeting in Geneva, where the two sides agreed to convene further discussions next month in Istanbul, was “a good start in this direction.”
“It is necessary to calmly and sensibly approach the organization of the Istanbul meeting,” he said, adding, “We will be actively promoting this.”
Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, stated during a press conference after the end of the talks, “Our agreement was one sentence, which was concluded by Mrs. Ashton, and we accepted it after all the six countries approved it, and that sentence was, ‘Talks for cooperation over common points in January in Istanbul.’”
