DAVOS, Switzerland (AP) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says the international community has no proof that Iran is building nuclear weapons.

Medvedev told world leaders and top executives on Wednesday that he spoke recently to Iran's president and encouraged him to demonstrate that his country's nuclear activities are peaceful.
Medvedev said, ""the international community so far has no information that Iran is building nuclear weapons.""
It is not the first time that Russian officials say there is no evidence that Iran is developing atomic weapons.
In an interview with CNN broadcast in early December last year Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said there is “no grounds to suspect Iran of seeking to possess nuclear weapons.”
“Our position is open, and Iran knows it. We will continue to cooperate with all participants in this process until the complete solution to this problem,” the Russian prime minister said in response to a question about whether Russia shares the concerns of other countries that Iran is moving toward becoming a nuclear power.
