IRAN in a perspective column says for many years political analysts were of the opinion that competition and tension form the main features of Iran-Turkey relationship. But now that traditional competition has been replaced by convergence and cooperation and that Tehran and Ankara have not only forged close economic and trade ties they have also been cooperating on the most important international issues. The trend of cooperation between the two neighbors is incomparable with any other country in the region. A brief look at the quality of relationship show that the two countries’ presidents have left behind issues that once were considered as “impediments” to relations and reduced differences to “zero”. Now, international observers view Tehran and Ankara as “trustable couple” to the extent that the political, security, commercial and cultural interests in the Middle East and West Asia is intricately linked to the quality of relations between the two countries. In the area of economic relations they have drawn up a plan to upgrade ties to a level of 30 billion dollars, and in terms of politics they hold consultations at the highest level on important issues such as Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon as well as nuclear issues.
JOMHURI ESLAMI in an editorial says the collapse of Mubarak’s regime is not just the fall of a regime but the beginning of a vigorous anti-American and anti-Zionist revolution in the Middle East and North Africa. It is a roaring flood that would put an end to the reign all dictators and the hegemony of colonial powers in the region. However, the Americans and the Zionists would not sit idle by and resort to every means to reassert their influence. Therefore, all Muslim revolutionaries should seize the opportunity to completely end the influence of colonialists and prevent their comeback. In this regard the Islamic Republic has a great responsibility. The columnist also says the massive turnout on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran on Friday once again confirmed the loyalty of the nation to the revolution and the Islamic Republic system. The people in their rallies called on the authorities and political activists to avoid disputes and, by fully comprehending the situation in the region and the world, make efforts to use the current situation in the favor the oppressed people.
In a report posted on the TABNAK website Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri in an interview with the ILNA news agency has said he had not been “consulted with” in drawing up the principlists manifesto. On a question that why he doesn’t participate in the Society of Combatant Clerics sessions, the former Majlis speaker said he has already “answered” this question. The cleric politician also praised people’s great turnout in Bahman 22nd rallies, saying it carries messages to authorities and the arrogant powers. The message to authorities, he said, is that the people, despite having different views, are unanimous in defending national interests and the values of the Islamic revolution. Nateq Nouri said this means that officials should also avoid division and that their differences should not make the enemies optimistic.
In a report posted on KHABAR ONLINE website, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said in Qom on Friday that unfortunately some remarks are made about certain issues which are not based on reality. He said, “I have explicitly and repeatedly expressed my view about the events that followed the presidential election; those who want to tarnish the image of the revolution must know that we are the followers of the Supreme Leader.” Elsewhere in his remarks, he said the Leader has forbidden the three branches of power to say something against each other and “we are duty bound to follow him… and until he desires so, we say nothing.” The senior lawmaker also said making accusations against others is not acceptable.
