TEHRAN, April 3 (MNA) – Iran plans to restructure its Foreign Ministry and concentrate more on the economic issues in the new Iranian calendar year (which began on March 21), Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast announced on Sunday.

Speaking in a televised program, Mehmanparast said the Foreign Ministry will be restructured as the New Year is called the Year of Economic Jihad.
In a Noruz (Persian New Year) message to the nation, the Supreme Leader called the year 1390 the “Year of Economic Jihad”.
“I call this year the ‘Year of Economic Jihad’ and I expect the officials of the country and also our dear nation to work in a jihadi way in the economic areas,” Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, said in his televised message.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to recent developments in the region including popular uprisings in certain Arab countries, saying people’s demands must be met.
He went on to say that certain Western countries have been acting hypocritically toward these uprisings, being aware of the fact that if democracy is established in regional countries, their interests will be put at risk.
To stop the uprisings the Western countries and the Zionist regime have sought to sow discords between regional nations including between Iran and some of these countries, the spokesperson noted
