TEHRAN – The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations has written a letter to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, UN Security Council President Gérard Araud, and UN General Assembly President Joseph Deiss, calling on the UN bodies to show reaction to the Zionist regime’s criminal actions on Nakba Day.

“The international community should show reaction to the Zionist regime’s recent criminal actions and the killing of the regional countries’ people,” Ambassador Mohammad Khazaei said.
On Sunday, the Palestinian demonstrators gathered in different cities across the Middle East to commemorate the May 15, 1948 occupation of Palestine, known as the Nakba Day (the day of catastrophe). But the Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinian demonstrators in Lebanon, the West Bank and the Golan Heights, killing and wounding hundreds of people.
The Iranian ambassador said that the brutal killing of people who had staged peaceful demonstrations on Israel’s borders with Lebanon, Syria and Gaza added another black stain on the ignominious record of the Zionist regime.
He went on to say that Israel’s recent criminal actions were added to the Zionist regime’s long list of crimes including aggression, occupation, torture, abduction, and state-sponsored terrorism.
“Taking serious and firm actions about the Zionist regime’s crimes seems necessary,” he said.
Khazaei has also requested that his letter is registered as a UN official document.
