Former Iran’s Wrestling Federation president Khatib dies

Hojatollah Khatib died at the age of 61 on Sunday in Tehran after a battle with cancer.

He was ex-president of Iran’s Wrestling Federation and was also the chairman of Persepolis club between July 2004 and December 2005.

Persepolis football team observed a one minute's silence in memory of ex-president Khatib prior to start the match against Saipa.

Iranian sports federations extended their deepest condolences in separate messages.

Under his management, the Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling team claimed three gold medals in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The Tehran Times staff also offers its heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.
