TEHRAN – Reforms as wanted by the United States will never happen In Iran, the Iranian Judiciary chief said on Monday.

“It is a wishful thinking that someday Iranian people or officials might abandon their genuine Islamic values,” Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said, Mehr news reported.

He called on the U.S. to “abandon their past mistakes and revise their policies and make sure that will not repeat something like the 1953 coup d'état or even a soft version of it.”

On August 15, 1953, the British and U.S. intelligence agencies initiated a coup by the Iranian military, setting off a chain of events including riots in the streets of Iran’s capital, Tehran that led to the overthrow and arrest of the democratically-elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosadeq.

“The Islamic Iran is a country for pious, anti-arrogance warriors not supporters of velvet revolutions.”

The Americans have sown discord and trained terrorists wherever they have set foot on, he said and hoped that American officials would abandon such policies.
