TEHRAN -- Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance spokesman Hossein Nushabadi has said that many countries are eager to screen “Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God”, Iranian director Majid Majidi’s film about the childhood of the Prophet of Islam (S).

“It seems ‘Muhammad (S)’ would turn into a box-office hit in the world since many have made requests to screen the film,” Nushabadi said in a press conference on Sunday.

“The film is currently being dubbed into Arabic and English and we are hoping it will go on screen in Muslim and non-Muslim countries,” he added. However, he did not name which countries.

Moreover, Nushabadi added that a committee including a team of experts has been established to select Iran’s submission for the best foreign language film category at the Academy Awards in 2016.

Nushabadi also made comments on “Hussein, Who Said No”, director Ahmadreza Darvish’s controversial movie about the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) against the Umayyad dynasty in 680 CE, and said that despite the ban on the film in Iran, there are no restrictions on screening it abroad.

The 7th Baghdad International Film Festival is scheduled to open with “Hussein, Who Said No” on October 1.

Nushabadi hoped that the obstacle would be removed and the film would soon be able to be screened in Iran.
