Rouhani to meet Pope at Vatican, to deliver speech at UNESCO

TEHRAN - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani plans to visit Vatican, Rome, and Paris and deliver speech at the Leaders’ Forum of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.

Rouhani has been officially invited by senior officials of these countries, the presidential office deputy chief for communications and publicity affairs Parviz Esmaeili said, ISNA reported on Tuesday.

Rouhani will first visit Rome on Saturday at top of a high-ranking delegation.

He will meet the Italian president, prime minister and other authorities, and also hold a meeting with a number of investors and large business owners in the country.

He will then head for Vatican to meet Pope Francis and Prime Minister Archbishop Pietro Parolin.

Rouhani will also address UNESCO Leaders’ Forum as special guest at the organization’s headquarters in Paris on November 16.

He plans to sit down with his French counterpart François Hollande in Paris on November 17.
