Poet Rahim Moini Kermanshahi dies at 90

TEHRAN – Iranian poet and song writer Rahim Moini Kermanshahi died of natural causes in Tehran’s Jam Hospital on Tuesday. He was 90 years old.

The poet was born in 1925 in the western city of Kermanshah. He began his career in painting in 1945 and advanced rapidly.

He later continued with composing poetry and songwriting, and gradually gained fame as his songs were selected by singers on national radio channels.

“O Candles Burn”, “Nature”, “Sun of Night” and “Hafez Get up” are among his noteworthy credits.

He also collaborated with musicians and composers Ali Tajvidi, Parviz Yahaqi and Homayun Khorram.

He spent many years working on composing the history of Iran into poetry and published several books.

His main concern was that the younger generation lacks sufficient knowledge about the history of their country and does not know the great men of their country.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati offered condolences over the demise of the poet and said that his poetry would always remain eternal and will keep his name alive and everlasting in the Persian history of culture and literature.
