ECO institute to discuss cultural capacities of member states

TEHRAN - The Tehran-based ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) plans to discuss the cultural capabilities of ECO member states and ways to safeguard each state’s cultural heritage during a meeting to be held on Tuesday.
The ECO was established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey as an intergovernmental regional organization to promote economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states.


Tehran museum to spotlight works by Bela Tarr

TEHRAN – The cinematheque of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art is scheduled to screen movies by acclaimed Hungarian filmmaker Béla Tarr during a program, which will begin today.

A lineup of Tarr’s films, including “Family Nest”, “The Outsider”, “Damnation”, “Werckmeister Harmonies”, “The Man from London” and “Satan’s Tango”, will be screened during the program, which will run until December 20.

Tarr rose to fame when he embedded philosophical elements in his films utilizing unconventional storytelling methods, such as long takes and non-professional actors to achieve realism.
