TEHRAN - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday commended as “timely” and “brave” a move by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) forces who arrested U.S. Marines who had trespassed on Iran’s territorial waters on January 12.

The Leader made the remarks while receiving the IRGC personnel who were involved in the arrest of the U.S. sailors.
This courageous move was inspired by faith, the Leader noted.
“You did a brilliant, interesting and timely job. In fact, this event should be considered God’s work. He drew them towards our waters so that with your timely measure, they would be arrested in that manner – with their hands on their heads,” the Leader explained, according to the khamenei.ir.
Ten sailors aboard two U.S. Navy boats were seized by the IRGC forces in the Persian Gulf on January 12. The nine men and one woman were released after one night in captivity on Farsi Island. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerr responded by expressing his “gratitude”.
The IRGC naval forces seized the boats two kilometers inside Iranian territorial waters.
