Iran, Russia sign 3 medical MOUs

TEHRAN — Iran and Russia inked three memorandums of understanding to boost medical cooperation, ranging from exchanging knowledge and technology to importing and exporting medications, IRNA reported.

Iran's Food and Drug Administration Director Rasoul Dinarvand, who was at the head of a delegation to Russia, met with Russian Deputy Health Minister Igor Kagramanian, discussing ways to foster active cooperation on health related issues, medical supplies, and pharmaceutical industry.

Meanwhile, a joint working group was formed tasked with implementing the terms and provisions of the MOUs.

During the meeting, Dinarvand noted that as much as 2,800 different kinds of drugs, including some Iranian ones, have been offered to be exported to Russia.

The three MOUs were signed between three Iranian companies from the private sector and a Russian company for transferring technology and manufacturing biotechnological products, including the production of flu vaccine in Iran and Hepatitis vaccine in Russia.

Iranian Pharmaceutical companies are eager to export their products to Russia and Russian officials are pretty optimistic about Iranian Pharmaceutical products.

The Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Veronika Igorevna Skvortsova, who was also present in the meeting, for her part expressed readiness to promote medical cooperation with Iran.

Skvortsova called on importing Iranian pharmaceutical products to Russia as one of the biggest medical markets in the world.
