NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Jason Richardson scored 31 points to help the Golden State Warriors overcome the loss of Baron Davis and beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 99-91 in National Basketball Association play on Saturday.

Davis sprained his right ankle and left the game late in the first quarter. He failed to return but the Warriors managed enough balanced scoring without him to snap a seven-game road losing streak.

Golden State were also without their third leading scorer, Troy Murphy, who missed the game with an ankle injury.

Derek Fisher scored 18 points off the bench for the Warriors to help make up for the absence of Davis and Murphy, while Mike Dunleavy added 14 points.

The Warriors' bench out-scored the Cavaliers reserves 43-29 to offset another strong game from LeBron James.

James had an off-night on Friday against Washington, shooting just 6-for-23 from the field for 18 points, but came back strong against the Warriors by leading all scorers with 33 points.

Cleveland coach Mike Brown told reporters after the game, however, that the Cavs depended too much on their all-star forward.

"We stood around and watched LeBron," Brown said. "We didn't ever give ourselves a chance to win. We played defense for 10 to 15 seconds on each possession, then they eventually got what they wanted. Offensively, we didn't execute at all, especially late."

James also dished out six assists and had five rebounds, while Zydrunas Ilgauskas contributed 14 points and eight rebounds to the Cavs offense.

Donyell Marshall and Eric Snow each chipped in with 12 points for the Cavaliers.

The game was tight throughout, the Warriors leading 48-47 at the half and by just four points after three quarters.

Golden State shot 50 percent from the field, but their poor free throw shooting (16-for-29) kept the game close until a late run in the fourth quarter led by Richardson put the game away.

Cleveland (29-21) lost their second straight game while the Warriors (23-27) won for just the second time in 15 tries in Cleveland. "We were due to win a game in Cleveland," Richardson told reporters.

"Guys really pulled together."

In Minneapolis, Kirk Snyder and Speedy Claxton both scored 28 points as the New Orleans Hornets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-94.

Desmond Mason added 14 points for the Hornets.

Ricky Davis scored 23 points and Kevin Garnett added 19 points and 21 rebounds for the Timberwolves.

In Milwaukee, Michael Redd scored 18 points to help the Bucks beat the Charlotte Bobcats 99-93. T.J. Ford added 16 for the Bucks.

Melvin Ely scored 21 points and Matt Carroll added 17 for the Bobcats.

In Houston, Yao Ming scored 27 points as the Rockets beat the Utah Jazz 102-88. Tracy McGrady added 25 points for the Rockets.

Milt Palacio scored 20 points and Mehmet Okur added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Jazz.
