TEHRAN – A domestic Iranian airline company has purchased four large aircraft worth 150 million dollars, two of the series have already been delivered to the company.

With the four aircraft joining Iran’s airline companies, 1,700 more passenger seats would be added to the current capacity of the nation’s air fleet, noted Nurollah Rezaii Niaraki, director of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization.

He added that due to the issue of the sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic, he would not want to be specific about the names and models of the purchased aircraft. However, he made it clear that, the planes each weighed about 300 tons and would have the capacity to carry over 200 passengers.

He also commented on the flight situations in the regional airports and said that except for Shahrud Airport all other airports were operational. He further explained that, by the yearend (Iranian year ends March 20) the number of the aircraft serving in Iran’s air fleet would reach 130.
