TEHRAN (PIN) – Tehran plays host to a Pak delegation that arrives today in Tehran to take part in the meeting of the two countries’ bilateral working group on the peace pipeline.

The two sides are to discuss pricing formula, economic feasibility report of the project, draft agreement among three countries, providing roadmap for the project as well as determining gas delivery points.

The meeting is to be co-headed by director of international affairs department of Iran’s Oil Ministry and deputy minister of petroleum of Pakistan.

The first joint meeting between Iranian, Pakistani and Indian officials to be held in Tehran this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 14 and 15, will also be discussed. Deputy Indian minister of petroleum, as well as chairman of that countries national gas company will take part in tripartite meeting.

India and Pakistan will bicker over gas price. Indian oil minister has noted that Iran, India and Pakistan will do their best to clear such issues as structure of the project, price range, and draft agreement ahead of the schedule meeting of three oil ministers to be held in April.

The first proposal for building the 3,600 km pipeline was offered in 1994 and the project’s cost has thus far been estimated at about 7 billion dollars. India is to purchase 60 million cu. m. gas from Iran at the beginning and the figure is to reach 90 million cu. m. in 2-3 years.
