Iran’s disabled lifter Mohammadi sets new world record

TEHRAN – Iran’s 60kg disabled weightlifter Hamzeh Mohammadi set a new record at the 4th world seniors’ competitions in Busan, South Korea, Friday.

Mohammadi took the coveted gold as he hoisted 203kg, improving the world record by 0.5kg and his Athens Paralympic mark by 5.5kg.

Former world gold medalist Ibrahim Shaban from Egypt finished runner-up with a 192.5kg record and the bronze went to China’s Feng, who locked 180kg above his head.

In the juniors’ 60kg, Majid Farzin snatched the glittering gold, lifting 160kg.

Iran had already bagged one gold, two silvers, and one bronze.
