TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Oman Ambassador to Tehran Abdullah Shanfari conferred here with Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki on Saturday and conveyed Oman's Foreign Minister Yousef Bin Alawi's message to him.

Foreign minister thanked brotherly and kind message of his Omani counterpart and stressed continuous consultations between the two countries can be very constructive and strengthen ties in bilateral, regional and international levels.

Elucidating the aims of his trip to Oman in the next few days, Mottaki said the main purpose of the trip is strengthening friendly ties between the two countries and considering the outlook of regional and international cooperation and the latest development in Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

Referring to the latest situation of Iran's nuclear dossier, the foreign minister said, "We believe the Americans are well aware of Iran's peaceful nuclear purposes, but in interaction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, they follow a political and propagandist goal in this concern and by repeating accusations and false propaganda, they are trying to reach their domineering aims."

"In reaction to the U.S. foreign minister statement, we emphasized negotiations based on equality and justice in which Iranians' rights can be secured."

Mottaki pointed out, "We have common interests with our neighbors in the region and friendly ties with the countries in the southern region of Persian Gulf are advancing."

The Omani ambassador, for his part, expressed pleasure over the expansion of ties between the two countries and said the bilateral relations are in an excellent level.

Shanfari added, "Muscat believes the only way to settle Iran's nuclear issue is a diplomatic solution and Oman emphasizes the Iranians' rights to use a peaceful nuclear technology.
