First phase of SPIFON project near completion
The project development will result in setting up a reliable and high speed communication service between the oil platforms at the South Pars field, a report by the South Pars Oil and Gas Co. said on Saturday.
After completion of the project, 10 offshore and five onshore platforms located at the oil and gas field will become connected through a 230-kilometer fiber optic network. It will also prepare grounds for 2.5-GBPS (Giga Byte Per Second) band width communication between the platforms and onshore refineries.
The cable-laying operation first started from the Assaluyeh shores and will continue to the SPD6 platform located at the South Pars Gas Field Development Phase 6, the report added.
Also, the second phase of the project to lay undersea cables is planned to begin on June 17. The project is expected to become complete by the end of summer.
