ALMATY (IRNA) -- Iran's Vice-President and Head of Environment Organization Fatemeh Vaez Javadi met with Kazakhstan Minister of Environment Nurlan Abdildaevich Iskakov here Friday on the sidelines of Environment Ministers Meeting of ECO members states.

In the meeting, the prospect of mutual cooperation in environmental affairs, especially protection of Caspian Sea from pollution were discussed.

Iskakov proposed the two countries sign an agreement in direction of environmental cooperation in Caspian Sea area, which was accepted by Iranian side.

Mrs. Vaez Javadi asked Kazakh side to prepare the document to be signed in the next joint commission meeting.

The Iranian vice-president emphasized the settlement of Caspian Sea environmental problems adding Iran was able to prevent pollution in Iranian side by executing some effective environmental programs.

She added pollution, especially in northern parts of Caspian Sea is a matter of concern and the littoral states must settle the problem by joint efforts.

Iran's vice-president also met with her Pakistani counterpart here Friday and discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of environment.

The third meeting of environment ministers of member states of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) started its work in Almaty, former capital of Kazakhstan, on Friday.
