TEHRAN -- Iran’s outspoken director Abolfazl Jalili here on Saturday criticized the coinage of bizarre words to define a certain film in Iranian cinema.

“The fact is that I can’t understand these concepts. It seems like we are dealing with an abstract idea and trying to give it a concrete aspect by giving various definitions,” he added.

He referred to the National Cinema section which is recently added to the next year’s Fajr festival, dismissing it a mere play with words.

“Although many people label me as a pessimist, I’m a realist and don’t consider these classifications as a solution.”

“Everyday we are facing a bunch of invented expressions and words in newspapers describing different types of films,” he regretted.
