TEHRAN -- The students of the Carpet Faculty of Tabriz Islamic Arts University are using their artistic talents to weave the entire Holy Quran in the form of a carpet, the project supervisor told IRNA on Wednesday.
The book will be comprised of 80 two-sided leaves of 70x45 centimeters, Javad Purnami added.
The project was begun two years ago and probably will take two more years to complete, he said.
The verses are being woven in silk and the other sections in wool, and most of the knots in the artwork are in the Turkish (symmetric) style, Purnami explained.
