Iranian researchers’ software detects power defect

TEHRAN – A software designed by Iranian researchers is capable of troubleshooting power lines in shortest time possible, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Tuesday.

The device determines a period of electricity run from the source to the ‘intended’ location and back by triggering a single-phase step pulse and pinpoints any defect, with almost no ‘slip’, much faster than the common methods employing slow pace complicated algorithms.

Davud Ghaderi and Nilufar Rajabiun, undergraduate students from School of Electronics at Tabriz University, and Aydin Sekhavati, Power PHD from Tabriz Islamic Azad University, were the joint researchers in this endeavor.
