TEHRAN -- A total of 900 rare historic manuscripts have been donated by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to the Astan-e Qods Razavi Library in the holy city of Mashhad, library director Ali-Mohammad Baradarn Rafiei said on Wednesday.

The invaluable collection comprises books on medicine, astronomy, alchemy, industry, literature, history, fiqh, hadith, and prayers.
The donation also includes sixteen editions of the Holy Quran and several Quranic booklets.
Rafiei said, “Divans of the pioneers of Persian classical poetry are amongst the works. For example, amongst the manuscripts, is the divan of Sheikh Mohammad Shafi’ Tehrani, known as the Vared, written in calligraphy by Mohammad-Abbas ibn Mahmud during the 19th century.”
“Since the library holds over 7000 manuscripts, which have all been donated by the Supreme Leader, it is highly regarded by experts of historic documents and scripts,” he noted.
The Astan-e Qods Razavi Library, which is adjacent to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), is preparing a bibliography of the manuscripts
