TEHRAN -- Director Yadollah Samadi donated a collection of his domestic and international awards, film accessories, and musical instruments to the Film Museum of Iran on Sunday.

He also requested that other cinematic figures give their awards to the museum in order that members of the public could have the opportunity of viewing them.
The awards donated by Samadi comprise nine statuettes, including one presented by Italy’s comic film festival for his movie “Apartment No.13”, six honorary diplomas and 14 plaques of honor.
He also donated an Azeri kopuz (lute) used in his movie entitled “Domrol”, and several other film accessories.
Samadi attached a note to the collection of awards, reading, “I kept these awards at my house for years, and the only people to see them were my friends, relatives and myself, not the people for whom I had made the films.
“I have now changed my outlook and realize that the little treasure of my house can be part of the big wealth of the Film Museum of Iran. And whenever my close friends and relatives miss me, they can go to the museum along with others and look at my mementoes, and murmur that the owner of these items is a friend of ours.”
Director Rakhshan Bani-Etemad also donated a collection of her awards, screenplays, books and film accessories to the Film Museum of Iran last month.
“The Station”, “The Bus”, “Saray” and “The Man Who Knew More” are among Samadi’s credits.
