TEHRAN – Iran’s ambassador to South Korea announced on Saturday that Tehran and Seoul have flourishing economic ties especially in the field of energy.

Mohammadreza Bakhatiari said that Iran is a main energy resource for South Korea.
“Iran and South Korea have officially started their diplomatic relations in 1962”, the official added.
The diplomat put the mutual trade volume in 2006 at above $7.6 billion, adding the figure in 2007 surpassed $8.6 billion, of which $5.663 billion was related to Iran’s exports.
Iran, in addition to oil, exports petrochemical derivatives, decorative stones, hand-woven carpets, dry nuts, and fruits to South Korea, he noted.
