Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa reviewed with Syrian leaders critical issues plaguing intra-Arab relations in preparing for the Arab summit set for March 29 in Syria.

'It's for our own benefit that the Arab summit be held in a calm atmosphere. This was one of the main topics in our discussion,' Mussa told reporters in a press conference that followed his talks in Damascus.
He added that many efforts had to be exerted to provide a stable political atmosphere amongst Arab leaders.
'We still have a lot to do,' Mussa said.
As for Lebanon's attendance at the summit, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, who attended the press conference with Mussa, told reporters that Lebanon will be represented.
Responding to Arab leaders who believe in the success of the summit only if a Lebanese president was elected, al-Moallem took some reporters by surprise by answering: 'I wonder if the Lebanese political crisis is more important than what's happening in Gaza now. Isn't the Gaza crematorium more important?'
He added: 'I am directing this question to anyone linking the election of a Lebanese president to the coming Arab summit.'
Al-Moallem and Mussa still debate a possibility of sending the summit invitation to the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
'We are still discussing the issue of invitations with the Arab League secretary general,' said al-Moallem.
Mussa said that 40 invitations are planned to be sent to leaders, including those of the Islamic conference, the United Nations and the European Union.
