TEHRAN — The Asian Parliamentary Association (APA) will discuss in its upcoming session the plan for establishing a gas loop among the Persian Gulf littoral states to transfer natural gas to the east Asian countries, APA general secretary said on Sunday.

“The plan needs the consent of 5 to 7 member countries to get the preliminary studies underway and it is expected that within a year the members would come to terms in this regard,” Mohammad-Hadi Nejadhosseinian explained.
“Japan and the United Nation Development Program (UNDP) first put forward the Persian Gulf gas loop plan some 10 years ago,” he added.
The executive council session of the APA is slated for Oct. 8 in which the guidelines and the agenda are discussed. The APA plenary assembly will be held in November in Indonesia, he noted
