TEHRAN -- National Confidence Party leader Mahdi Karrubi has told the NCP Central Council to avoid defamatory remarks during the election campaign.

Karrubi made the remarks at the second meeting of the NCP Central Council on Saturday, during which its internal bylaws were drafted and the latest developments were reviewed.
The NCP presidential candidate also said he was glad to see that the council is so energetic.
He stated, “There are new opportunities for institutionalizing the party system in Iran.”
Today’s very sensitive conditions are not comparable with the situation two years ago, and in light of the magnitude of the task, comprehensive efforts must be made by concerned loyalists of the Islamic Revolution and the general public, he added.
Commenting on the upcoming election, he advised NCP Central Council members to refrain from defamatory remarks from any podium and to focus on running a constructive campaign.
He stated, “We will overcome the obstacles in our path and will make use of consultation and negotiation. If people accept us, we will stay the course, and if not, in an endeavor to improve our country, we shall assess our shortcomings and positive points.”
During the session, the NCP Central Council members also registered to join the party’s central offices and committees
