TEHRAN – In the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (began March 20, 2008), over four million tons of products were transited via Iran’s borders, seven percent more than the figure in the same period last year.

Stating the above, Mohammad Javad Atrchian, the director general of the Roads Maintenance and Transportation Organization for transit and border terminals, said that non-oil products accounted for some 3.5 million tons of the transited goods, indicating a 12.5 percent growth when compared to the figure of the corresponding period of last year.
He added that fuel, cotton, home appliances, construction material, and foodstuff constitute the main transited goods, IRNA reported
