Iran welcomes expanded ties with Singapore: speaker

TEHRAN – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani stated on Wednesday that Iran welcomes expansion of ties with regional states.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the expansion of regional and continental cooperation and regards it as an important factor in the development and burgeoning of countries,” he said in a meeting with the Singaporean non-resident ambassador to Tehran Ong Keng Yong.
Larijani added Iran also is inclined to strengthen its relations with Singapore.
“The Majlis supports the idea of expanding cooperation, trade and economic ties between the two countries especially in the private sector.”
He also made a reference to the recent regional developments, saying, “It is better for the regional countries to resolve their problems and stop the interference of foreigners.”
Ong, for his part, expressed his happiness over being selected as the ambassador to Iran.
He also expressed hope that relations between Tehran and Singapore will be more expanded during his mission.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the countries with which Singapore intends to expand its trade, economic and industrial relations.
