TEHRAN - Villarreal Football Club wants to recruit Osasuna midfielder Javad Nekounam.

The Iranian international, who will join Iran’s 100 club on Wednesday’s match against South Korea in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, finished 2008-09 as Osasuna’s second goalscorer, behind Walter Pandiani.
Osasuna is ready to pay the release clause of $7 million for the Osasuna player while there are also talks of an exchange of players between Nekounam and Villarreal’s Matias Fernandez as part of a deal that would reduce the fee that the Castellon club would have to pay, Marca reported.
Villarreal finished fifth in the 2008-09 season and failed to book a berth in the Champions League. The team will represent Spain in the UEFA Cup
