TEHRAN – In a meeting with his Spanish counterpart Miguel Ángel Moratinos in Madrid on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki called for promotion of Tehran-Madrid cooperation.

Mottaki started a two-day visit to Spain on Monday at the head of a politico-economic delegation. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast, Deputy Foreign Minister for Western European and North American Affairs Mohammad-Ali Ahani, and a member of the Majlis Foreign Policy and National Security Commission Mehdi Mehdizadeh are accompanying Mottaki in the visit.
Commenting on the age-old relations between the two countries, Mottaki stated that friendship between the two countries’ people will help increase cooperation.
Moratinos, for his part, announced Spain’s readiness to help resolve crises in the Middle East, particularly the Gaza siege.
He also insisted on further consultations between the two countries on various issues.
The two foreign ministers discussed human rights and Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy program as well.
Iranian foreign minister also congratulated his counterpart on Spain's win in the World Cup 2010.
Mottaki invited Moratinos to visit Tehran
