TEHRAN – Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has called for an end to the existing tensions over Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities through negotiations, Lebanon’s Al-Manar TV reported.

Jiechi stated that his country calls for a Middle East free of nukes and is trying to persuade Israel in this regard.
On the other hand, Austria’s foreign ministry spokesman commented on Austrian foreign minister’s meeting with his Chinese counterpart, saying the U.S. and South Korea military maneuvers are not fruitful due to the existing tensions in the region.
Austrian foreign ministry spokesman added that the existence of nuclear weapons in the Korean Peninsula causes regional instability.
On July 25, 2010, Chinese foreign minister held talks with his Austrian counterpart, Michael Spindelegger in the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
