TEHRAN -- The renowned Iranian actor and comedian Akbar Abdi will stage “Iranian Super Grocer” from late January for one year.
“I intended to stage the play in one of the private halls in Tehran. I have conducted negotiations with some officials for staging the play and it should be performed in the near future,” he told the Persian service of MNA.He went on to say that Tehran’s City Theaters are booked almost solid for the next two years and available schedule openings would only allow 30 or 40 performances, which is not sufficient for his play.
“Iranian Super Grocer” narrates the story of a family that emigrates from Iran and faces numerous challenges at their destination. Four actors who play the roles of family members perform live and four characters are screened in the form of video clips”, he said.
He previously stated that he played seven or eight characters simultaneously in the play.
Abdi’s directorial debut “Mr. Akbar, the Theater Actor” went on stage at Tehran’s Sangelaj Hall in 2006.
