The Bach flower remedies and the pioneering Dr Edward Bach

Dr Bach created his 'Bach' Flower Remedies in the late 1920's and 1930's. Although starting out as a qualified medical doctor, it is his pioneering work developing Flower Remedies that made him famous and changed our understanding of health and the origins of health problems.
Many people have been inspired to follow in his footsteps and there are now other ranges of flower essences produced all over the world, however, Dr Bach's original 38 Bach Flower Remedies and particularly his combination of Cherry Plum, Clematis, Rock Rose, Impatiens and Star of Bethlehem - which he called 'Rescue Remedy' - continue to be the the most used.Dr Edward Bach is a giant figure in the field of natural medicines. After qualifying as a doctor of conventional medicine, and practicing for several years, he initially left that in favour of homeopathy and then turned his back on a successful Harley Street practice to find something even more subtle than that.
He felt that illness was a message from our higher self drawing attention to an imbalance in our lives and calling for a change in our way of living and our mental outlook.
The main purpose of the Bach Flower Remedies is to help us to be able to recognise the imbalance and make that change to bring us back to a genuinely happy experience of life. The healing properties of the Bach Flower Remedies are based on his ground breaking recognition that patients are much more than just the outward physical body that is treated by conventional medicine.
He also recognized the importance of someone's emotional and mental wellbeing as a contributing factor in the appearance of medical symptoms.
The Bach Flower remedies have been in use throughout the world in the years since his death in 1936 and, from this ground breaking work in only the last seven years of his life he opened the way for the blossoming of flower essences and the many ranges that we can find today from producers on every continent around the world.
Bach Remedies are now made by different manufacturers who follow Dr Bach's original, detailed recipe instructions to a greater or lesser extent.
Unfortunately, there are lots of conflicting claims, beliefs and marketing from some of the larger Bach remedy producers, even legal battles, so you may find it difficult to understand quite what the real differences between them are.
The Bach Remedies made by healing herbs seem to be the range of choice for most independent practitioners and, our research suggests they are the best available.
Healing herbs was set up in 1988 to prepare Bach Remedies to the highest standards and precisely according to the original directions of Dr Edward Bach. They place emphasis upon preparing the mother tinctures in a natural environment, on perfect sunny days, using only trees and plants which are healthy and in full bloom.
The 38 Bach Flower Remedies are all made from flowers except for one, Rock Water, sixteen are flowers from trees and all of the remedies were made in the UK except for Olive and Vine which were made in Italy.
